How to Setup a Personal Web Page
- Connect to a Egyptian Internet local dial-up number.
- Double-click on the FTP icon.
You will have to
purchase or use a shareware version of an ftp program. A few places to find shareware software
would be at www.shareware.com or www.tucows.com.
If you have already configured ftp to connect to Egyptian Communication move on to step #3.
- In the "Config name" box, type Egyptian
- In the "Host name" box, type ftp.egyptian.net
- In the "Host type" box, choose auto detect
- In the "User ID" box, Type your login name
- Leave the "Password", "Account", "Remote Dir",
and "Local Dir" boxes empty.
- Click on "Save Config"
The next time you connect all you have to do select Egyptian and click OK
- Click "OK" and type your password when prompted
You are now logged into the server
- Double-click on "public_html" to enter that directory
- On the LEFT side, which is local host (your computer is
local host), find the webpage you have already created.
- Click on your Webpage to highlight it.
Note: Below the two windows you will see the words "ASCII", "BINARY", and "L8". If you send a text or html file, use "ASCII". If you send a graphics file, use "BINARY".
- Click on the arrow pointing to the remote host to send the file to the server
- The first page you want visitors to see MUST be named index.html
- When you are finished, click the "exit" button to exit FTP.
- To view your homepage, Open the Netscape Browser and in the location area type "http://www.egyptian.net/~your-loginname".

Now that you have a homepage, go to Directions for a Homepage Counter to add a counter to your page.
